Its been many a year since the Speedway 51 powered by the Autosaver Group saw new pavement going down, in fact it was way back in 1995 when the facility was named Riverside Speedway, and CJ Robinson owned the place. Well now it is 2018, and the Track is receiving some freshening up on parts of the worn out old pavement.
Owner Joey Laquerre has hired Central Asphalt Paving of Jefferson, New Hampshire to lay down some fresh pavement on the most deteriorated sections of the track. They are using a special mix designed for race tracks.
Laquerre stated “I am very excited about this upgrade. One of the many complaints about the track was the rough spots and the dips in places on the track. Ed Stanley and I sat down and discussed the best way to keep the awesome side by side racing that we offer each and every week, and how to put down the new surface. We came to the agreement that the best way to remedy the situation would be to grind off the old and lay down the new mix specially formulated for race tracks. I am excited about what this new pavement will do for us in the future.”
Work has been going on all week and will continue until the process is complete, and the race surface will be race ready for Jericho Outdoors night this Saturday, June 16th at 6pm. On tap will be The North Country Ford Late Models, Perras Ace Hardware Tiger Sportsman, Caron Fabrication Street Stocks, Claudette & Dean’s Place Daredevils, White Mountains Community College Cyclones and Lady Angels. There will also be Kids Bike Races. For more information on Speedway 51 powered by the Autosaver Group visit the Track website at www.speedway51int.com, or call the hotline at 802-266-0240.
