As Mother Nature wreaks havoc on Octoberfast 2018, schedules have come and gone, and changes have been forced to be made. With weather being the issue again on October 27th and 28th, the plan to try one more time was enacted and the event was rescheduled for November 3rd with a November 4th rain date. We knew that it was Thunder Road’s Annual Awards Banquet so we bumped up starting times figuring that we could get everyone off and running back to Central Vermont by approximately 2:30pm. After much more pencil crushing it was realized that it would be cutting it overly close for some drivers to get to the banquet and it was putting a burden on their very important event. So in best interest of everyone the decision to cancel the final Mom’s North Country Powersports Twin State Street Stock Series event has been made and Jeff Martin will be crowned on Saturday night as the 2018 champion. The Barre, Vermont native, Martin won all three of the Series races thus far and had a very comfortable lead of 29 points heading into the final Series race. Craftsbury’s, Stephen Martin will collect second place honors, ahead of a pair of St. Johnsbury drivers, Kasey Beattie, and Alan Birch, and Williamstown’s, Tommy Smith. These five will be saluted for their performances at the Thunder Road Banquet. The same courtesy will be shown to Thunder Road’s Warrior teams as we are cancelling the Cyclone / Warrior Challenge.
The new schedule is being revamped as we speak. The Mom’s North Country Powersports, Novemberfast 151 Enduro paying $2,000 to win will now be the headline event for November 3rd. Also on the card will be a double elimination, Battle of Speedway 51 Spectator Drags with the winner taking home $151. There will also be single elimination Enduro Car Drag races paying a cool $51 to win, and the always special Kid’s Candy Scramble will be held. Speedway 51 powered by the Autosaver Group can be reached at 802-266-0240 or visit the website at www.speedway51int.com. Speedway 51 is located at 78 Craggy Road in Groveton, New Hampshire.
