MOODIE ON TOP AT DK & SONS NIGHT AT SPEEDWAY 51 POWERED BY THE AUTOSAVER GROUP

Mother Nature tried its best to ruin a night of racing at Speedway 51 powered by the Autosaver Group in Groveton, New Hampshire, but track management waited out a severe storm, dried the track and completed its night of racing. Winners on DK & Sons double point, mid-season championships night included Brendan Moodie, Bunker Hodgdon, Greg Adams, Laci Potter, Cody Leblanc and Vanessa Brown-Savage.

The North Country Ford Late Model main was the final event of the evening, and with a damp track and light sprinkles in the air it made for a dicey 51 lap grind. Brendan Moodie got to the front early and never relinquished the top spot. Craig Bushey settled for a distant second, finishing ahead of Mike Kenison, Marcel Gravel and Doug Laleme. Moodie and Bushey won their respective qualifiers.

The race of the night was in the Perras Ace Hardware Tiger Sportsman as rookie driver Bunker Hodgdon held off all challengers to grab his first career Tiger victory. It was no easy task as runner-up Nick Gilcris battled side by side with the leader for much of the race, and then Gilcris had to hold off Craig Bushey and Kevin Boutin. Hodgdon’s win was received with thunderous applause as the race was such a nail biter. Kevin Boutin placed third ahead of Craig Bushey and Jon Boutin. Hodgdon and Bushey carried heat checkers. (Important Note)  Track owner Joey Laquerre is very pleased at how the Tiger Sportsman class is growing, so pleased that he put up a $500 bonus for the driver that finished in a certain position. Chips were put in a bag and chip #5 was pulled out meaning the 5th place finisher received the bonus and that would be a very appreciative, Jon Boutin.

The highly entertaining Caron Fabrication Street Stock feature saw Greg Adams battle the entire race with rookie Ryan Ware, and Dean Switser Jr. had to use every trick in the book to hold off Allen Birch, and Jeffrey Martin. When the race ended it was Adams, Switser Jr., and Birch completing the top three. Ware faded to 4th ahead of Jeffrey Martin. Heat checkers flew for Kasey Beattie and Adams.

Young Laci Potter cruised into victory lane with a flat right front tire in the Claudette & Dean’s Place Daredevil feature, but she saved just enough air to edge the Canadian ace, Makita Giroux, scoring her first career Daredevil victory. Tyler Thompson placed third ahead of Jaxson Edwards and Jillian Baumgardner. Giroux scored the popular heat victory.

Newcomer Cody Leblanc held off point leader Chris Ouellette in the White Mountains Community College Cyclone feature as the pair battled the entire distance. Todd Derrington raced home third ahead of Matt Mason and Travis Moulton.

Vanessa Brown-Savage won the Lady Angels portion of the event.

The next event at Speedway 51 powered by the Autosaver Group will be on Saturday night, August 4th at 6pm. The event will be a makeup race for the postponed NAPA Spectacular. NAPA stores from Berlin, Littleton Colebrook, Whitefield and Plymouth will be highlighted during the night.
