MOODIE, HODGDON AND HEATH PREVAIL AT SPEEDWAY 51 POWERED BY THE AUTOSAVER GROUP

Beautiful weather and hot racing was featured Saturday night at Speedway 51 powered by the Autosaver Group at the high banked ¼ oval in Groveton, New Hampshire, and winners on the night included Brendan Moodie, Bunker Hodgdon and Jamie Heath.

The Perras Ace Hardware Tiger Sportsman highlighted the card and the field swelled dramatically from opening night. The best part of the night was the fact that all cars racing were quality piec4es of equipment and there were battles throughout the field all night long. Brendan Moodie picked up his second consecutive win by edging out Dwayne Lamphear and Craig Bushey. Moodie worked his way around Bushey with three laps remaining, and then slid up the track in turn three one lap later surrendering the runner-up spot to Dwayne Lamphear. Travis Calkins raced home 4th ahead of Brandon Lamphear. Moodie won the qualifying round.

Bunker Hodgdon showed no mercy in the Caron Fabrication Street Stock feature event as he rebounded from last week’s poor finish, to carrying the checkered flag this week leading from start to finish. Dean Switser Jr. was reeling Hodgdon in at the end of the race but laps ran out and he settled for second. Jared Plumley, Brett Rowell and Kasey Beattie rounded out the top five. Hodgdon also won his heat race.

Jamie Heath made the long haul down from Waterford, Maine and scored an impressive victory in the White Mountains Community College Cyclone division. A scrum at the start of the race sent the field scrambling and Heath picked the right hole and shot to the point, never to be challenged. Matt Mason and Chris Oulette raced hard for the second spot with Mason prevailing in the end. Oulette finished third ahead of Travis Moulton and Todd Derrington. Heath also won his qualifier.

The A.B. Excavating Daredevils had a tough night as a wreck on lap one wrecked six of the cars. They will try again this next week with double features. The Twisted Tea angels will also have a pair of features next week.

Racing resumes this coming Saturday, May 27th at 6pm with a giant Memorial Day weekend card. On tap will be the all the Wicked Good Vintage Racers out of Maine. Joining them will be the Perras Ace Hardware Tiger Sportsman, the Caron Fabrication Street Stocks and the A.B. Excavation Daredevils, White Mountains Community College Cyclones and Twisted Tea Angels. All military personnel in uniform will be admitted free.
