PASS North point leader DJ Shaw took over the lead from Garrett Hall for good on a lap 116 restart and padded his point lead by claiming victory in the Creative Counters 151 at Speedway 51 powered by the Autosaver Group in Groveton, New Hampshire this past Saturday night. Other winners included Ben Tinker, Kevin Boutin, Kasey Beattie, Makita Giroux and Chris Ouellette.
Shaw stretched out a solid lead in the PASS Super Late Model race as he easily outdistanced Travis Benjamin and Hall. Rounding out the top ten were Derek Ranstrom, Derek Griffith, Bobby Therrien, Jeremy Davis, Ben Rowe, Kyle Welch and Sammy Gooden. Rowe and Griffith won the qualifying rounds.
Ben Tinker blistered the PASS Mod field for a good share of the race before Billy Dixon reeled him in and challenged him to the finish but came up short settling for second ahead of Bruce Helmuth, Gary Shackford and Jariot Harrison. Shackford won the lone qualifier.
Kevin Boutin and Nick Gilcris battled the entire 35 lap main event for the Perras Ace Hardware Tiger Sportsman, and when it was done Boutin came out on top, Gilcris 2nd, Craig Bushey, Ryan Boutin and Erik Messier completed the top five. Gilcris carried the heat checkers. Ryan Boutin won the $500 Tiger Sportsman bonus put up weekly by track owner, Joey Laquerre.
Kasey Beattie scored an impressive win in the Caron Fabrication Street Stock main as he defeated teammate Dean Switser Jr., Greg Adams, Allan Birch and Tom Merchant. Merchant was the heat race winner.
Makita Giroux rolled to another Claudette & Dean’s Place Daredevil victory as he defeated Laci Potter, Jaxson Edwards and Jesse Laquerre.
Cyclone point leader Chris Ouellette won a photo finish race over Nick Miller. Ouellette won by just inches. Shawn Hood raced home third ahead of Travis Moulton and newcomer Eric Banks.
This coming Saturday, August 18th will be a huge day of activity for Speedway 51 powered by the Autosaver Group. First on Saturday morning starting at 9am, Brian Hannaford’s “Hardluck Tour” for disabled veterans will be taking place. There will be disabled veterans coming from across the nation participating. The crowd is invited to come and cheer on these brave veterans who have been injured in combat. The grandstands are free for all attending, pits passes will be sold. Then on Saturday night at 6pm it will be Mike Beattie’s Riverside Speedway Blast from the Past II reunion sponsored by Beattie Enterprises featuring legendary drivers from days gone by. Steve Patnaude and Tim Russell will be hosting the event which will also see some of the old timers in their own little race. Racing legend “Dynamite” Dave Dion will be participating in the entire days activities along with his Berlin City Ford racecar. The card will also feature racing for the North Country Ford Late Models, Perras Ace Hardware Tiger Sportsman, Caron Fabrication Street Stocks, Claudette and Dean’s Place Daredevils and the White Mountains Community College Cyclones/Angels.
