Derrick Calkins made sparks fly on the 5th of July as he raced to a hard fought win in the Dalton Mountain Motorsports / Caron’s Towing Tiger Sportsman division at Speedway 51 powered by the Autosaver Group in Groveton, New Hampshire. Other winners included Dean Switser Jr., Nicholas Ogden and Mekaylah Bowen.
It was Autosaver Group night and the 51 lap grind for the Tiger Sportsman saw Mike Clark pull out and lead the first 26 laps before his car coasted to a halt bringing out the caution. Jared Plumley assumed the point with Derrick Calkins in tow. On lap 37 Calkins rode the high groove past Plumley and captured the lead. Plumley kept it close to the end but came up short by two car lengths short. Nick Gilcris raced home third ahead of Brad Bushey and Jerrad Ledger. Mike Clark and Brad Bushey carried heat checkers.
It was Dean Switser Jr. capturing his fourth win of the season in the Caron Fabrication Street Stocks as Alan Birch finished second ahead of Michael Gooden. Jamie Heath won the lone qualifier.
Mekaylah Bowen showed the boys how it’s done in the Claudette and Dean’s Place Daredevils as she scored her first ever Daredevil victory holding off Kaiden Fisher, Brady Heath, Jesse Laquerre and Cassi Leonard. Bowen also picked up the heat win.
Nicholas Ogden won his second White Mountains Community College Bone Stock feature of 2019 as he dusted the field for the win. Marty Barrup, Eric Barrup, Craig Martin and Dylan Tester chased Ogden to the stripe. Ogden and A.J. Sumner collected heat wins.
